Located in the heart of the international district, nearby the United Nations, halfway between the city centre and the airport, this smart, modern business hotel is a firm favourite with visiting heads of state. Meeting facilities cater for up to 1500 people and there is a fully equipped business centre, a fitness centre and spa, as well as the gastronomic Les Continents and the self-service La Pergola restaurants. Hôtel Mövenpick
Located in the International Centre Cointrin (ICC) business complex, the Hôtel Mövenpick is situated just 0.8km (0.5 miles) from the Palexpo Exhibition Centre and 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre. Hôtel Noga Hilton
This sleek, modern hotel offers space, elegance, comfort and unrivalled views from its lakeside position. Located on the western shore of Lake Geneva, Hôtel Noga Hilton is just 15 minutes from the airport and five minutes from the man financial sector of central Geneva. There are 410 air-conditioned rooms and suites, three bars, a salt-water swimming pool, a casino and private shopping arcade with bank and travel agency. There are four restaurants in the hotel, serving classical French cuisine at Le Cygne, Chinese specialities at the Tsé Yang and bistro-style meals at La Grignotière (with lakeside terrace) and Le Bistroquai. Ramada Park Hotel
Formerly known as The Forum, this ultra-modern, four-star hotel offers 308 guest rooms, with floors dedicated to non-smoking rooms, as well as clubrooms and suites. Just a short hop from the International Airport of Geneva and three minutes from the Palexpo Exhibition Centre, all rooms are equipped with modem points and fax connections. Other facilities include a sauna, fitness room and airline check-in desk. International cuisine is served at La Récolte, brunch at Le Jardin (weekdays only) and snacks at the Marco Polo bar. Hôtel Beau-Rivage
The Jacques-Mayer family set up the elegant Beau-Rivage, on the banks of Lake Geneva, in 1865. Their descendants still run the refined hotel today. Former guests have included Sarah Bernhardt, the Empress Elisabeth (Sissi) of Austria and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. These days, the Beau-Rivage is a firm favourite with Sting and Catherine Deneuve. All of the 97 air-conditioned rooms (some of which are non-smoking) and six suites are equipped with modem points or fax, and each room has two telephones and five direct lines. The conference facilities are extensive and banquet facilities are overseen by chef Richard Cressac, who is also responsible for gastronomic restaurant Le Chat-Botté. Chic Thai restaurant, Le Patara, is also located in the hotel and afternoon tea and cocktails are served in L'Atrium Bar.

Hotel Président Wilson
This palatial lakeside hotel in the heart of the city, boasts priceless antiques (including a collection of 17th-century Gobelin tapestries), 255 luxurious air-conditioned rooms with fax/modem points (some non-smoking) and ultra-luxurious suites, including the Royal Suite which occupies a whole wing of the building. Conference and banqueting facilities for up to 1200 are available, along with a congress centre. English-style bar Charlie’s serves cognacs and fine cigars, while live concerts are held in the Lobby Lounge tearoom. Lebanese specialities are on the menu at L’Arabesque, and Spice restaurant, serving international cuisine, opened in September 2001 to replace Le Cirque. Meals are served on the terrace garden surrounding the outdoor pool in summer.

Hôtel Edelweiss Manotel
Just a short walk from Lake Geneva, the Edelweiss Manotel is a sensible budget option. Decorated in the style of a Swiss chalet, the hotel offers 42 rooms and a Swiss-style restaurant, where evening entertainment and folk music is provided for the guests. Hôtel Le Warwick
This unpretentious hotel, situated opposite Cornavin station and a short walk from the nearby boutiques in the lively Rue Mont-Blanc, offers 169 comfortable rooms and nine suites, all with en suite bathrooms. The Warwick is a modern hotel with a gleaming marble lobby. There are two styles of rooms – classical (decorated in a contemporary style) and luxury (grandly decorated in red and gold with private terrace). Hôtel d'Angleterre
Dating from 1872, this intimate five-star, 45-room hotel, situated near Cornavin station, on the banks of Lake Geneva, draws well-heeled business clients and celebrities. Each of the individually decorated rooms is fitted with fax lines and modem points and many have a private balcony. The hotel has a fitness centre with sauna, business services and meeting room with a capacity for 50 people. The Leopard bar serves a fine collection of malt whiskies and Windows offers chef Philippe Audonnet’s tantalising, light meals throughout the day.

Le Richemond
Colette enjoyed her own suite at Le Richemond, one of Geneva’s most established and opulent hotels, run by the Armleder family since 1875. Prices are steep but, in return for their investment, visitors are rewarded with luxurious surroundings and the choice of 98 plush rooms (including 31 suites), all of which are fitted with modem points. There are also five business rooms with a combined capacity of up to 500 people. Dining is enjoyed in the Art Deco Le Jardin and Lebanese cuisine is served at the recently renovated Le Gentilhomme.
