Business Crowne Plaza The 349-room Crowne Plaza is located in Mannerheimintie, at the heart of the main entertainments and amenities area of the city. Its central location means that all local services are easily accessible, including transport to and from the airport. It features rooftop saunas, and the Bridges restaurant overlooking the sea from the atrium, which also contains a bar and lounge. Website: www.hilton.com Price: $$$$ Hotel Kämp Founded in the late 1800s, the Hotel Kämp claims to be the longest-established truly luxury hotel in the Nordic countries. Following a full restoration in 1999, it now offers high quality service and accommodation in 179 rooms. Restaurants include Est. 1887 and CK’s. There are a gymnasium, spa, and of course a sauna suite. Website: www.hotelkamp.fi Price: $$$$ Moderate Helka Hotel A pleasant independently-run establishment offering exceptionally good rates considering its central location, the Helka has 150 rooms, a 170-seat restaurant and sauna facilities. Website: www.helka.fi Price: $$ Hostel Mekka Located on the southern edge of the Kaisanemi Park close to the main railway terminus and Senate Square, this cheerful budget hotel offers single, twin, triple and four-bedded rooms plus dorm accommodation at very reasonable rates for a capital city centre. Website: www.hostelmekka.com Price: $ Other Recommendations Cumulus Olympia For a more relaxed atmosphere than that offered by the big city centre hotels, the Olympia is a good choice, situated just 1.5km (1 mile) from the central district. Banqueting and conference facilites with capacity for up to 500 guests. The rooms are simply furnished and all have ensuite shower/WC facilities. ‘Superior’ rooms and two suites are also available. It is relatively small, so advance booking is advisable, especially at busy times. It is a member of international hostel networks, so discounted rates are available for card-holders.
