Business

Grand Hotel
Opened in 1874 by a local pastry chef, the Grand Hotel is architecturally the most elegant hotel in central Oslo. With 289 rooms and suites and a choice of five restaurants and bars, the Grand is located on Karl Johans Gate close to the parliament building and the Royal Palace. It is equipped with swimming pool and fitness centre, plus several function rooms noted for their interior design.

Radisson SAS Plaza
Claimed to be the largest hotel in Scandinavia, the Plaza is situated centrally, adjacent to Oslo Central Station. Opened in 1990, this modern hotel offers 673 rooms on 37 floors, plus two restaurants and three bars including the 34th floor Skybar and Tapas Restaurant with its outstanding views across the city and the fjord. It also has extensive conference, meetings and banqueting facilities.

Luxury

Clariton Hotel Royal Christiania
Opened in 1952 to coincided with Oslo’s hosting of the Winter Olympics, the Royal is also located close to Oslo Central Station, conveniently situated for all the main city centre attractions and facilities. It has 503 rooms, restaurant, bar, swimming pool and conference facilities. Covered parking is also available. The hotel was extensively rebuilt and refurbished in the early 1990s.

Hotel Bristol
The Bristol is a high-end city centre hotel dating from the 1920s, offering 242 rooms and 10 suites, several restaurants and bars, and health/beauty facilities including solarium, sauna and fitness salon. There is a new conference centre with capacity for up to 500 people. Situated just off the main Karl Johans Gate thoroughfare, it is close to transport links and city centre attractions.

Moderate

Art Bed and Breakfast
A rather different sort of accommodation is offered here, aboard the MS Innvik, a large vessel permanently moored at Langkaia, about halfway between the Central Station and the Castle. The ship also has a theatre aboard, with regular performances. Cabins are small, but have capacity for two persons. There is a café, and breakfast can be obtained on board for an extra charge.

Norlandia Hotel Saga
Located behind the Castle, the Saga lies about 15 minutes’ walk from the attractions of the city centre. It has 37 rooms, a small bar, TV lounge and meeting room for up to 30 people. Wireless Internet is available in all rooms. Parking is included in the room price, as is a free supper offered to all guests (other than in the peak summer period).

Other Recommendations

First Hotel Millennium
Opened in 1998, but behind a 1930s facade, this hotel stands a few minutes’ walk from the city centre. Its 112 rooms are finished in Scandinavian style with wooden floors. Family rooms have separate bedroom and parlour, and from the higher floors guests can enjoy excellent views across Oslo from the large balconies. Restaurant, bar and parking.

Rica Bygdoy Hotel
Rica Bygdoy Hotel Oslo is a beautiful, historic hotel situated within walking distance of Oslo's main tourist attraction, the sculptures by Vigeland in Frongnerparken. Also in the immediate vicinity are the National Art Museum, The Royal Palace, Aker Brygge and Karl Johan gate, as well as exclusive shops, coffee bars and restaurants. The hotel reopened in 2000 after an extensive refurbishment project: it has kept its 'historic soul' but has at the same time found room for the modern and attractive restaurant, Magma, run by the internationally renowned chef Sonja Lee.
