The Palau de les Arts (see Sightseeing) is due to fully open as the city’s principal performing arts venue in October 2006 (tel: 902 100 031 (CAC); website: www.lesarts.com). Meanwhile the main arts venue is the nearby Palau de la Música, Paseo de la Alameda in the Turia Gardens (tel: 902 204 020; website: www.palaudevalencia.com) producing classical music (plus occasional pop and jazz) concerts, opera and ballet.

The main theatre is the Teatro Principal on Calle Barcas (tel: 963 510 051) though all productions are in Castilian or Valenciano.

There is no permanent dance space in the city ,the annual Danza Valencia festival takes place late April-early May.

The Filmoteca, Plaza del Ayuntamiento (tel: 963 539 300; website: www.ivac-lafilmoteca.es) is the best place to see VO classics, cult and foreign films. For mainstream movies, the spectacular IMAX Cinema at L’Hemisferic, Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (CAC) (tel: 902 100 031; website: www.cac.es) is the place to go.
