Sightseeing
The well-preserved Old Town of the capital of Estonia is included in the World Heritage List, thus confirming the exceptional value of its architectural and cultural treasures. The signature of centuries is etched into the city's streets – no less than four out of five of the city’s buildings from the Middle Ages are preserved intact, as is the bulk of its Medieval street network. The 15th-century Town Hall is the former residence of the city council; it is the oldest secular building in Estonia and the only fully surviving medieval town hall in Eastern Europe. Tallinn Town Hall Pharmacy, also located in Town Hall Square, has been dispensing medicines since 1422, even before Columbus discovered America. The 18th-century Kadriorg Park and Palace is a beautiful example of Baroque architecture and houses the Foreign Art Museum and several elaborate flower gardens, while visitors to Rocca al Mare Open-Air Museum can discover Estonia’s rural farming heritage.
