Mall of America
Description
The Mall of America, opened in 1992, is the world’s largest undercover shopping centre, covering 32 hectares (78 acres) of land just outside Bloomington. It houses over 520 shops, including American giants such as Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and Sears, and attracts more visitors each year than Disney World Resort, the Grand Canyon and Graceland combined. In addition to the shops, there are 14 cinema screens, eight nightclubs, and over 50 restaurants, including the Rainforest Café, complete with all the sights and sounds of the Amazon, as well as a host of other attractions. Camp Snoopy is a three-hectare (seven-acre) indoor theme park, featuring roller coasters, a ferris wheel and 26 other rides. At Underwater Adventures, a huge aquarium, visitors come face to face with 300,000 sea creatures, whilst the LEGO Imagination Center contains LEGO models and thousands of LEGO bricks for children to play with. Entrance to the Mall is free but some rides and attractions charge on an individual basis. Air: Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport. Rail: Train: Merced Amtrak Station.
