Travel - International

Air
Anguilla is served by LIAT (LI) (Leeward Islands Air Transport) from Antigua, St Thomas (Antigua can be reached using BWIA from UK and US) and Puerto Rico. American Airlines and American Eagle operate scheduled flights from Puerto Rico. Air Anguilla, Caribbean Star, LIAT, TransAnguilla and WINAIR operate several daily flights to and from St Maarten and St Thomas. Caribbean Star operates regular charter flights from Antigua and St Kitts. The main international gateways are Antigua, Puerto Rico and St Maarten.

Approximate flight times
From Anguilla to London is eight to 10 hours (including a stopover in Antigua), to Los Angeles is 10 hours and to New York is six hours.

International airports (turbo-prop only)
Wallblake Airport (AXA) is in The Valley. Transport to the city centre is by taxi (travel time – five minutes). Facilities are limited but disabled facilities, light refreshments and tourist information are available.

Departure tax
US$20. Children: US$10 (five to 11 years of age); children under five years of age are exempt.

Sea
The main port is Road Bay where there is a jetty capable of handling ships of up to 1000 tonnes. Ferries operate between Blowing Point on Anguilla and Marigot on St Maarten at regular intervals (travel time – 20 minutes).
