Health
No vaccination certificates are required to enter Alderney. There is a reciprocal health agreement with the UK, allowing all short-stay visitors (three months maximum) from the mainland free immediate and necessary medical treatment and free emergency dental treatment. Visitors should nevertheless be aware that the NHS does not operate in the Balliwick (Guernsey, Alderney, Sark & Herm) under routine circumstances. Doctor’s visits, ambulance services and prescribed medicines must be paid for. Proof of UK residence (driving licence, NHS card and so on) is required to benefit from the agreement. The island has a small hospital, two medical practices and one dental practice. Visitors are advised to obtain health insurance cover prior to their trip.
