Accommodation ranges from top-class hotels in Victoria and Vancouver and motels beside the main southern highways to simple cabins high up in the Rockies. Cottages and cabins are widely available on Vancouver Island. ‘Ranch Holidays’ are popular in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast tourism region of central British Columbia. Camping/caravanning
There are nearly 10,000 campsites situated in over 150 parks and recreation areas. Most campsites do not have power supply link-ups for caravans. Several of the parks are designated as ‘Nature Conservancy Areas’, where all motor vehicles are banned and transport must be on foot. The type of parkland available varies from sandy beaches with vehicle access, to lakes and glaciers reached only by aircraft or boat. All campsites have a time limit of 14 days and reservations are recommended. A number of companies can arrange motor camper rentals, with a range of fully-equipped vehicles.
