Passports
Passport valid for at least three months after intended return to home country required by all (although these are exceptions and certain nationals may be able to enter with valid national identity cards, etc - it is best to contact the nearest Consulate prior to departure).

Visas
Required by all except the following:
(a) 1. nationals of Belgium, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hong Kong (SAR), Israel, Jamaica*, Korea (Rep), Luxembourg, The Netherlands, San Marino, Surinam*, the UK and USA for touristic stays of up to three months;
(b) 2. nationals of Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovak Republic and Spain for stays of up to 14 days but also with the highly likely chance of having this extended to up to three months upon arrival;
(c) 3. other nationals for touristic stays of up to 14 days, although there still many who always require a visa; contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate directly regarding this;
(d) most nationals continuing to a third country within 24 hours by the same means of transportation and not leaving the airport and holding tickets with reserved seats and documents for their onward journey.
Note: * These nationals must still withold proof of sufficient means of support and onward/return documents, even when travelling visa-free.

All stays can be extended locally by the same period that they are valid for.

Validity
Visas are generally issued for as long as duration of stay, up until a maximum 90 days from date of issue.

Application requirements
(a) Valid passport with at least one blank page. If passport is new, the old passport must also be submitted. (b) One fully completed application form. (c) One recent passport-size photo per person endorsed on passport. (d) Fee, payable by postal order (to Royal Netherlands Embassy) or cash. Cheques are not accepted. (e) Evidence of sufficient funds amounting to a minimum of US$150 for each day of stay (cash not accepted), eg original bank statements, credit card with credit limit statement, traveller’s cheques. (f) It may be necessary to submit a recent and original letter from employer, stating commencement date, with last payslip. If self-employed, submit letter from solicitor, accountant or company house. If unemployed, submit social benefit booklet. If in education, submit a recent and original letter from school/college/university, confirming attendance. (g) Valid medical or travel insurance. Tourist: (a)-(g) and, (h) Invitation from family or proof of hotel booking. (i) Return or onward ticket. Business: (a)-(g) and, (h) Invitation from Dutch company confirming duration and purpose of stay.
Note: All individuals (including residents) travelling within the Netherlands Antilles must hold proof of identity (including photo) if aged 14 years and above.

Working days required
Applications should be lodged at least one month prior to departure.

Temporary residence
Enquire at the office of the Lieutenant Governor of the Island Territory of Bonaire, Plaza Reina Wilhelmina 1, Kralendijk, Bonaire. In certain cases, Dutch Europeans may be permitted to reside in the Netherlands Antilles without having to apply for a residence permit. However, it is best to consult the nearest Dutch Embassy/Consulate in advance to ascertain whether this is applicable taking into consideration the individual circumstances of the traveller.
