Accommodation

Hotels
The number of hotels has expanded in recent years; most are small- to medium-sized, and well equipped; the largest has 170 rooms. There are three hotels at the fringe of an area designated as a National Park. Grading
Many of the hotels offer accommodation according to one of a number of ‘Plans’ widely used in the Caribbean; these include Modified American Plan (MAP), which consists of room, breakfast and dinner, and European Plan (EP), which consists of room only.

Apartments/Cottages
These offer self-catering, full service and maid service facilities and are scattered around the island.

Guest Houses
There is a variety of guest houses and inns around the island which offer a comfortable and very friendly atmosphere. There is a 5 per cent government tax and 10 per cent service charge on rooms.

Camping/Caravanning
Facilities are available. Overnight safari tours are run by local operators.
