Contact Addresses Note On December 26th 2004 a massive earthquake registering 9.0 on the Richter scale struck off the west coast of Indonesia. The quake created a tsunami – a series of huge waves that spread destruction across many parts of Asia and reached as far as the east coast of Africa. Both the west and north coasts of the province of Aceh on the island of Sumatra have been badly affected by damage caused by the tidal waves and flooding. Access to medicine and clean drinking water in the immediate aftermath of the disaster was causing a huge problem and travel to the affected areas was advised against. Travel elsewhere in Indonesia is unaffected.
