Workbooks, Dictionaries and Other Resources

This collection features series to improve your reading, writing, grammar or spelling, a variety of dictionaries and other print resources. 	Voyager Series: Reading and Writing for Today's Adults Voyager teaches the essential reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills and strategies needed by adults. Units are divided into popular themes and themes into lessons. Lessons in the early books also teach phonics and other word recognition strategies. Voyager encourages students to be active learners – engaged in thinking about and applying what they are learning.		Basic Grammar in Use by Murphy and Smalzer This book focuses on the fundamental grammar structures normally taught in basic or introductory courses. Each of the 116 units is presented in a two-page spread, with simple, clear explanations on the left-hand page and practice exercises to check understanding on the right. An Audio CD with example sentences and answers are included, making it useful for guided or self-study.
	Fundamentals of English Grammar by Azar Combines communicative methods with the direct teaching of grammar. Promotes clarity and simplicity in grammar instruction, this edition is enriched by a wide variety of language-learning activities.		Challenger: Adult Reading Series A controlled-vocabulary eight-level series specifically designed to guide students from the beginning stages of reading to the critical reading, writing, and reasoning skills at the pre-GED level.
	Oxford American Dictionary Highly rated by the Library Journal this dictionary is given free to all participants in the Literacy Program.		The Oxford Picture Dictionary Grouped by themes this picture dictionary takes students through everyday language scenes and excursions to the hospital, mall and more!
	On the Write Track by Cotto This textbook holds the key to motivating and challenging students to tackle basic literacy, interpersonal English language skills, and academic content.		Steck-Vaughn Comprehension Skills Series Each series in this program covers reading skills that every student needs to have. Each book covers a different skill and provides standardized test practice. Each set of 6 books is available in Reading Levels 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.
	Focus on Phonics Series by Gail Rice A series of phonics workbooks to accompany the Laubach Way to Reading series.		Patterns in Spelling by New Readers Press Designed for adult new readers this series provides a systematic method of learning to spell.
	NTC's Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs Contains more than 2,500 definitions of two-word verbs, prepositional verbs, and verbal collections.		Webster's Easy English Dictionary
